Here’s where you come in:
As Associate General Counsel, you will provide legal counsel and services, in consultation with and under the direction of the General Counsel, and in coordination with other members of the Legal Department, to enable World Vision International and the broader World Vision “Partnership” to carry out their mission in compliance with applicable laws and at an acceptable level of legal risk.
You will preferably be admitted to the California Bar; however, the California requirement may be waived for an exceptional candidate who is admitted to the bar in another jurisdiction.
Requirements include:
- US Juris Doctorate, or foreign equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney.
- Solid foundation in fundamental legal theories, ability to identify problems and legal issues and provide practical advice to in-house clients, good negotiating and research skills, as well as effective written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in dealing with outside counsel, preferably global exposure and general knowledge of international affairs.
- Sensitivity in and exposure to cross-cultural situations.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Highly desirable:
- Included in the 5 years’ experience would be some in a major global law firm and engaged in cross-border, multijurisdictional matters.
- Experience in multijurisdictional employment law.
- Exposure/experience with countries in the developing world.
- Experience both in law firms and corporate in-house legal departments.
- Experience in a non-US legal system, particularly the Civil Law system would be preferred.
- Experience with nonprofit organisations.
- Fluency in a second language (especially Spanish, French, or Portuguese).
