Real Estate Legal Assistant / Paralegal – In Office, Full Time

We are a real estate and estate planning firm in Wheaton, Illinois. Our office has a relaxed, but professional atmosphere. We are also a very busy practice, and value employees who take ownership of their work, communicate well with clients and coworkers, and can independently keep client matters moving. Concentrating in residential and commercial real estate, and estate planning, we are seeking an experienced Real Estate Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our team.

Responsibilities

The position will primarily support the firm’s real estate practice and will include:

• Assisting attorneys with residential real estate purchase and sale transactions from contract through closing.
• Communicating with clients, attorneys, lenders, real estate agents, title companies, and other parties to transactions.
• Ordering and reviewing title commitments, surveys, payoff statements, association documents, and other closing materials.
• Preparing and organizing closing documents and coordinating closings.
• Tracking attorney-review, inspection, financing, closing, and other transaction deadlines.
• Maintaining client files and ensuring matters move efficiently toward closing.
• Assisting with commercial real estate matters as needed.
• Providing backup administrative and paralegal support for the firm’s estate planning and estate administration practice.
• Communicating professionally with clients and helping provide a high level of client service.
• General law-office administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Prior experience as a real estate legal assistant or real estate paralegal is required. Applicants should have practical experience working with Illinois residential real estate transactions and be familiar with the process from contract through closing.

The ideal candidate will also have:

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a large number of active files and competing deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a small team.
• Professional and friendly client-service skills.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced law office.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general law-office technology.
• Experience with estate planning, probate, or estate administration is a plus, but not required.

Requirements:
Real estate legal assistant or paralegal experience, computer skills, ability to communicate with professionals, ability to manage deadlines and keep a calendar of important dates.
