Remember and Choose

Remember and Choose

In the book of Joshua, God provides a story of the successful life of integrity, as the Hebrews entered the Promised Land. We finally come to the sixth and final lesson from Joshua.

Lesson #6 – Remember and Choose

“Now therefore revere the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

Now if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”  – Joshua 24:14-15

It’s the call to faithfulness:  Choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods that the legal culture serves—success, money, ego, status, stuff, prestige, golf, sex—or the Lord?

The scriptures say that today is the day of salvation. Not tomorrow, nor yesterday.

As the year comes to a close…may we all reject the culture and its fleeting success and choose this day . . .

CLS Prayer

Lord, I choose you. Help me daily to revere and serve you in faithfulness and with a thankful heart.  Amen.
