About the Role:

You will be responsible for trust/estate and general civil litigation. You can expect to make court appearances, hold depositions, and be responsible for discovery. The firm is seeking someone who’s personable and comfortable in a client-facing role, as you’ll be regularly liaising with clients and internal staff. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience with trusts and estate litigation. The ideal candidate will have experience with disputed trust and probate cases, including experience in probate court. The candidate should have experience in filings and court appearances. Experience in probate and trust accountings would be a plus. A strong academic record and excellent writing skills are required. Must be admitted to practice in the State of California.

Job Functions:

· Assist with probate and trust administration along with related litigation and estate planning

· Guardianship and conservatorship administration

· Collaborate with the Senior Partners

· Work with and delegate to paralegals and other support staff

· Research legal issues for trust and estate litigation matters

· Draft pleadings, discovery, memoranda, motions and other legal documents

· Handle trust and estate litigation matter from inception through trial, including taking depositions, attending mediations and settlement negotiations

· Attend hearings on a regular basis in the probate courts

· Make independent decisions and advise clients on pre-litigation and litigation matters

· Handle conservatorship or guardianship matters from initiation of proceedings to representation of conservators or guardians for the duration of these matters

· Handle probate administrations from initiation of proceedings to discharge of personal representative

· Consult and advise trustees or beneficiaries on trust administration

· Other projects, as assigned

Qualification & Education Requirements

· Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school

· Admission and in good standing with California Bar

· 3+ years of experience in an Estate or Litigation practice

· Excellent verbal and writing skills

· Excellent academic credentials

· LLM in taxation is ideal

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
