Administer Justice – Attorney Engagement Specialist Job (Part-Time)

Company:

Administer Justice

Location:

Elgin, IL

Salary Information:

$30,000 - $33,000

Description:

Mission:  In February 2025, Administer Justice will celebrate its 25th year of standing in the gap to empower vulnerable neighbors with the help of a lawyer and the hope of God’s love through the home of the church. We exist to invite others to use their gifts to advance God’s kingdom of justice and righteousness. God’s heart beats for justice for the poor which is the second most prominent theme in the Bible. Because He cares, so do we. We demonstrate this by expanding access to Justice and Jesus. 1 in 3 Americans cannot afford an attorney. In a nation that pledges “liberty and justice for all,” that should not be.  As Christ followers called to administer true justice (Zechariah 7:9), that must not be. Together we can change that story.

Vision:  Our vision is to see 1,000 Gospel Justice Centers transforming lives in the name of Christ. Transformation takes place as a trained team of volunteers establish neighborhood Gospel Justice Centers. Each Center is distinctly biblical, holistic, team-based, neighborhood centered, dignity giving, self-sustaining and leads back to the local church. The team provides legal, social, and spiritual support through a Justice Champion leader, Community Advocate, Hospitality Specialist, Prayer Champion, Client Intake Specialist, Interpreter, Attorney, Client Advocate and Follow-Up Advocate. Our logo demonstrates many diverse hands coming together to shine the light of the Holy Spirit into the darkness of injustice. We multiply impact through volunteers using their gifts to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8).

Values: No one does justice alone. God brought you to Administer Justice to use your gifts to advance His kingdom. We value everyone doing their P.A.R.T. (1 Corinthians 12:12)   We are professional, adaptive, result-oriented, team-players.  We live these values through our work knowing that our boss is Jesus. We embrace the truth that “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Colossians 3:23. Our values drive us to measure and improve results. We perform with excellence because we know we will give an account. This drives us to work through three teams to engage, equip and ensure great outcomes.

Your Role: A legal ministry cannot operate without lawyers. Your role is to source, engage, encourage and support attorneys to steward their gifts through serving the least of these. You will source attorneys through LinkedIn, law schools, state and local bar associations, and working with others in general marketing. You will also identify and use relevant platforms to engage potential volunteer counsel for our Gospel Justice Centers. You will manage a calendar for conversations, address Frequently Asked Questions, lead Explore Gospel Justice events tailored for lawyers and move people from exploration, to interest, to service.

Once recruited, a volunteer attorney needs support to remain inspired by, dedicated to and engaged with this legal ministry long after they start. Your role will include working with the Attorney Support Specialist who provides our volunteer attorneys with the support they need to deepen their commitment to serving over the long term.

Reports to:     Vice-President of Engagement, Director of Attorney Engagement

Who you’ll serve: You serve three primary groups of people:

1. GROUP 1: Attorney Prospects and Attorney Leads.  Your job is to identify prospective attorney volunteers, answer their questions and provide them with resources, guide them through Attorney Training, and position them for committed, dedicated service with a GJC Team or in an active substitute role. Each Gospel Justice Center must have one volunteer attorney as part of the launch team, although the goal is to place two volunteer lawyers in each center within three months of opening a center. For existing centers with only one lawyer serving, the goal is to increase the number to two attorneys as guided by the needs of each center and insight from Administer Justice’s Equip Team which regularly works with centers. For all centers, we also wish to fill temporary gaps with substitute attorneys.

2. GROUP 2: Strategic Partners. Lawyers respond best to other lawyers which is why a strong source of attorney referrals is attorneys themselves. Secondarily, lawyers respond to trusted sources. You will identify trusted sources such as pastors, legal networks and associations, Faith & Justice Commissions and other Christian justice groups, and law school alumni associations. You will work with the Director of Attorney Engagement to create content for distribution over LinkedIn and explore other legal publications to reach target audiences.

3. GROUP 3: Engage and Equip Teams.  You will work collaboratively with the Engage and Equip teams, which will involve other recruitment efforts to equip healthy GJCs with an adequate number of attorneys.

*       Listening to God’s leading in others. As you discern His path and help others explore this deeper, you will witness His transforming work in their lives. You will develop friendships that will extend into eternity.
*       Creating the story to capture hearts, inform minds, and move people to action through communications, Explore calls and partnerships.

Success in this role is measured by:
