It is no secret that law students and attorneys struggle with mental health issues such as anxiety and stress and have problems with substance abuse. In fact, the American Bar Association (ABA) itself has conducted studies that revealed high rates of mental health disorders and substance use among law students and attorneys. The ABA’s findings have helped put the issue of attorney well-being front and center for the profession. To provide a forum to discuss these issues, LSM has developed a new program—LSM’s WELLness Program. The inaugural event of this new program is September 20, 2023. LSM is pleased to have Ruth Haley Barton as a guest on its Leadership Roundtable. Ruth is the founder of the Transforming Center and has spent over 20 years as a student, a practitioner, and a leader in the area of Christian spirituality and spiritual formation.
